Hangar2 represents a commitment to the health of future generations.

The vision for Hangar2 is the result of a team of people who came together because they share a common sense of urgency to address the crises facing our youth.

The data paints a sobering truth: our kid’s mental and physical health is in decline.

We envision Hangar2 as a place for play with purpose.

A unique environment for youth to find their fun and

Take Flight towards a brighter, healthier future.

The Hangar2 concept is based on the evidence that a child’s consistent participation in sustainable extra-curricular activities leads to essential, positive outcomes and the development of invaluable life skills.

With a growing deficiency of welcoming, inclusive, safe, year-round facilities available for youth activities, Hangar2 offers an innovative response where ALL kids can share in the exploration and inspiration of a huge variety of diverse activities - finding their fun while connecting with kids from all backgrounds.

The plan for Hangar2 calls for the restoration and re-purposing of two extraordinary historic aircraft hangars, and their support spaces, into a one-of-a-kind, 3 acre, indoor neighborhood of athletic, arts, STEM and social activities for all youth.

Located in Seattle’s beautiful Magnuson Park, Building 2 is the last unrenovated major structure amongst a collection of historic facilities built in support of the original Sand Point Naval Air Station. Those facilities have been revitalized and given new purpose, many providing affordable housing to a growing community of families, including over 400 children that will enjoy free access to Hangar2.

Projections show that Hangar 2, through its numerous program providers and partners, will engage over 40,000 children from the Seattle area and beyond over the course of the year.
